Can’t be bothered with saddle bags? Then invest in a bicycle trailer (also known as a baggage trailer) to carry larger, heavier bags. A bicycle trailer is secured to the right of the bicycle. It is pretty secure on the saddle pin but the trailer will be more stable if it is attached to the wheel axle. Perhaps also handy for bicycle holidays?
Bicycle trailers with two wheels
Classic bicycle trailers (or baggage trailers) can carry up to 100 kg (be careful not to exceed the maximum weight limit) and are therefore ideal for large objects such as wood, a gas bottle, serious camping equipment, etc. In general, they are made of sturdy wood, metal or PVC, are square (+/- 80 x 50 cm) and equipped with strengthened wheel axles.
Choose a model that can be locked with the bicycle as they will usually be left outside.
Their size (80cm wide) means the bicycle trailers are not always easy to accommodate. The manoeuvrability of this type of trailer is also limited.. You need a great deal of space, for example, to make a u-turn.

Bicycle trailers with one wheel
For the last few years, this has been the best-buy for bicycle holidays. This bicycle trailer is full-length, the frame is low and it weighs very little (around seven kilos). The wheel on the trailer is made of steel and the base is a grille. It is attached via the back wheel and there is also a special quick-connector saddle pin.
Paradoxically, this bicycle traileris much more stable than a trailer on two wheels. It follows the direction of the bicycle and also corners smoothly. Another advantage: the longer shape means you are more manoeuvrable. You can also ride over rougher ground.
This trailer is sold with an adapted waterproof bag, carrying handles, a mudguard, reflectors and a (vital!) flag.
