A good cycling helmet will protect you if you fall, is comfortable to wear and easy to use. More and more cyclists are taking to the streets with hardshell helmets. A hardshell helmet has a soft core with a sturdy and hard exterior that protects your head. In that sense, they are quite similar to motorcycling helmets.
Touring’s helmet test, however, revealed that a micro shell with EPS will disperse impact much better than these hardshell helmets. The EPS layer of these microshell helmets disperses the impact . The exterior is flexible.
Other
Testers were also not impressed by the comfort, wear, user-friendliness and visibility of these hardshell helmets. Finally, they also felt that the ventilation and adjustability of the straps could be improved.
