The electric bike has the wind in its sails. Climbing hills, covering long distances, fighting against the wind or arriving at work without breaking a sweat never looked so easy… The electric bicycle offers the freedom of cycling without any of the usual limitations. Does it offer a solution to your mobility needs? And how do you find the bike that suits you best?
Choosing your bicycle
An electric bicycle includes elements that support the cyclist in their efforts. The motor on the bicycle is only engaged when the pedals turn.
So you always have to pedal (otherwise we’d be talking about a scooter) but you don’t have to put in as much effort as with a usual, non-electric bicycle.
Which questions do you need to ask?
There are almost as many e-bikes as there are ordinary bikes. So it is important to ask yourself the following questions:
- Will you use the bicycle (mainly) for short or long distances? Every day or just every now and then?
- Would you like to attach a child’s seat or bags?
- Does the bicycle have to fit in the boot of your car or would you like to take it on public transport?
