“Let’s roll” by Niels De Graeve

.

This week we really kicked-off after receiving our first training plans from the coaches of Pulso Preventielab.

As it was still winter and rainy, I had to do all my training sessions on my indoor bike on the “Zwift” platform. Going for a sunny virtual ride early in the morning, really gives you an energy boost for the rest of the day! I can definitely recommend it to all of you during those “home-working” times! Last week, I had to do a strength training session and as I like climbing in the mountains, the perfect location for the training was the virtual “Alpe du Zwift” – inspired on the legendary Alpe D’Huez in France. I started with 30 minutes warming up, followed by several power “blocks” to 280watts (4.8watts/kg) and as a result, my heartbeat was going up immediately! During the session, I also got a notification from the platform that I met my weekly goal, which really motivates you to spin your legs even harder and faster. I closed the session with 30 minutes cooling down. Ready for a new day of working remotely and just in time for our PAS Reward internal team call to start the day!

First meetup with the team

We also had a great introduction meeting with the whole group of riders so we could meet each other and share the first details of the “heavy” 3-days event in April. This really inspired all of us to go the extra mile! The teaming went well with colleagues from different levels, service lines and offices. On our internal Strava club, we can see all training results from each other so that we can encourage each other by giving kudo’s (= virtual likes) after or even during the indoor training rides! Already looking forward to the next virtual group rides and who knows even a real group ride outdoor with a small group of 4 colleagues!

More to come in the next blogs from the other team members!

Stay safe and don’t forget: You can’t buy happiness but you can buy a bike and that’s pretty close!?

Niels De Graeve.
