COVID SAFE TICKET

To be admitted to the start zone all participants need to have a Covid Safe wristband. You will receive this wristband after scanning your Covid Safe ticket (on smartphone or paper) and checking your identity at one of our CS scanning stations (F. Van Eedenplein and Bedrijvendorp).

Of course, the organisation would like you to be able to participate safely and smoothly. That’s why they are organising the AG Antwerp 10 Miles in accordance with the current Covid regulations, making use of the so-called Covid Safe Ticket, which is mandatory for events with more than 1500 people. That means you will no longer need to wear a mask or keep a 1,5 metre distance.

WHICH CONDITIONS DO YOU HAVE TO MEET?

You will have to meet one of the following conditions:

  • Hold a vaccination certificate that proves that you were already fully vaccinated two weeks before the event.
  • Hold a certificate of recovery (no older than 6 months) that proves that you have recovered from Covid-19.
  • Hold proof of a negative PCR test (taken at the earliest on Friday October 8th). Validity = day of test + 2 days.
  • Hold proof of a negative antigen test (administered by medically qualified staff (not a self-test!) and taken at the earliest on Saturday October 9th). Validity = day of test + 1 day.

WHERE CAN I FIND MY COVID SAFE TICKET?

Your Covid Safe Ticket is the same as your Digital Covid Certificate: a valid QR code in the CovidSafeBE app (for those living in Belgium, if you come from another European country it is a valid QR code in your local CoronaCheck app). You might already have a QR code and app from a trip abroad. You could potentially also show your certificate of recovery or proof of a negative test result using that code and app. Please note: your ID will be checked at the same time as your QR code, so make sure that you are also carrying your ID card.

Are you Covid Safe? Then you will get a wristband and you can then collect your bib number (and T-shirt). The wristband gives you access to the starting area and you will have to keep it on throughout your run until you leave the finish area.

IMPORTANT: You will have to install the CovidSafeBE app or another “European Digital Covid Certificate” on your smartphone BEFOREHAND. Printed screenshots are not permitted. Without a valid digital QR code and your ID we cannot check your Covid status and you will therefore not be able to collect your bib number nor participate. Also make sure to bring your ID card.

HOW WILL I GAIN ACCESS TO THE STARTING AREA?

You will only be allowed into the starting area when wearing the wristband and bib number. If you do not have a wristband, you will not be allowed into the starting area.

Always wear your wristband!

Six people form a team, with every team member running his or her own distance. During this relay race, the participants hand over the “ tasuki“ or a sash to the next runner.

The Ekiden is an exciting race as the team’s success depends on each of the six runners. Every member of the team is important. That is why this race is so popular with companies.

On a last note: the world record is held by a Kenyan team since 2005: 1hr57m06s. Recorded in Chiba, Japan.

FURTHER INFORMATION

The “42km” long course (more info coming soon) of the Brussels Ekiden runs from King Baudouin Stadium to the Park of Laeken. You must pass on the tasuki to your team member on the track within a clearly demarcated relay zone (more info coming soon) for your team.

  • Changing rooms and showers: King Baudouin Stadium
  • Your team will always change runners on the same spot. This location will be marked inside the stadium based on your race number. Make sure to inform your team members in advance! This will make it easier for supporters to follow your team’s performance. In order to easily find your next runner, relay zones are used by a maximum of 20 teams each. All relays will take place in the zone allocated to your team.
  • The tasuki has to be worn diagonally cross-body, running from the shoulder, over the vest, to the hip. Exchanging the tasuki has to be done in the relay zone.
  • Runners who run 2 laps (10KM) will pass in lanes 1, 2 and 3.
  • The relay zones are situated in lanes 4, 5 and 6. Only runners whose team mate is to be replaced and in the stadium can take place in or in front of the relay zone, making sure they do not hinder the other participants
  • To simplify finding the next runner in your team, each relay zone will be divided in sections of 100 teams.

    • section 2: team 121 – 140
    • section 3: team 141 – 160 etc…

Obviously, we want your participation to run smoothly and safely. That is why the event is in accordance with the current Covid regulations and is using the so-called Covid Safe Ticket. This will allow you to take part or come and support safely without having to wear a face mask or to maintain a 1.5 metre distance from others in and around the King Baudouin Stadium.

WHICH CONDITIONS DO I HAVE TO COMPLY WITH TO ATTEND THE DHL EKIDEN AS A RUNNER OR SUPPORTER?

You have to meet one of the following conditions:

  • Hold a vaccination certificate that proves that you were already fully vaccinated two weeks before the event
  • Hold a certificate of recovery (maximum 6 months old) that proves that you have recovered from Covid-19
  • Hold proof of a negative PCR test (taken at the earliest on Thursday 14 October); validity = day of test + 2 days
  • Hold proof of a negative antigen test (administered by medically qualified staff (not a self-test!) and taken at the earliest on Friday 15 October); validity = day of test + 1 day

Children younger than twelve can enter the King Baudouin Stadium without additional testing or a Covid Safe Ticket.

WHERE CAN I FIND MY COVID SAFE TICKET?

Your Covid Safe Ticket is the same thing as your Digital Covid Certificate: a valid QR code in the CovidSafeBE-app (for those who reside in Belgium, if you come from another European country it is a valid QR code in your local Corona app). You may have already used the QR code and app on a trip abroad. You might also be able to show the certificate of recovery or proof of a negative test result using that code and app. Please note: your ID will be checked at the same time as your QR code, so make sure to also carry your ID card.

HOW DOES IT WORK IN PRACTICE?

Stewards will scan your CovidSafeBE app at the entrance to the stadium.

  • Put on a face mask
  • Keep at least 1.5 m distance from others
  • Switch the brightness on your telephone to 100%
  • Get the QR code in your Covid Safe Ticket ready (using the app)
  • Keep your ID card handy

Are you “Covid Safe”? Then you will receive a green wristband. This wristband will give you access to the stadium and you will have to wear it throughout the event.

Example of a valid QR code in the CovidSafeBE app.

IMPORTANT: You will have to install the CovidSafeBE app or another ‘European Digital Covid Certificate’ on your smartphone BEFOREHAND. Printed screenshots are not permitted. Without a valid digital QR code and ID we will not be able to check your Covid status, which means that you will not be able to collect your bib number or take part. So make sure not to forget your ID.

You can download the CovidSafe BE app for free in the App Store (iOS) or in the Google Play Store (Android).

DOES THE SAME APPLY TO OUR SUPPORTERS?

Yes, everybody (> 12) who enters the stadium must be able to present a valid Covid Safe Ticket.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM NOT COVID SAFE ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT?

No valid Covid Safe Ticket means no access. You (or your team) will not be reimbursed. Therefore, it is your own responsibility to comply with the Covid Safe Ticket conditions.

CAN I GET TESTED ON SITE?

No, you cannot get a test at the DHL Ekiden. In other words, there is no point in coming to the event as a participant if you do not have the correct documents.

Mobility

  • Parking is possible on Parking C (paid parking!)
  • 10 minute walk to the DHL Business Village
  • The parking is accessible from the Ring via exit 7a (follow arrows ‘Expo’).
  • We recommend you to carpool as much as possible.

The 20 km of Brussels have been organised in our capital every year since 1980.

The course can be challenging for beginners, because it includes a gradual, invisible climb during the first seven kilometres. The course is also very popular because it passes by many of the city’s most beautiful monuments and thanks to the huge crowds that line the route.

The ” 20km de Bruxelles ” already welcome the runners, but from now on, they will welcome the walkers as well. The duration of the race, which was fixed at four hours, will be extended to six hours. One more reason to promote Brussels and its Region.

An exciting 20km course through our capital, which winds its way past magnificent and historic monuments, with plenty of fun entertainment along the route, the many supporters and the boost you get from this type of large-scale running event.
